  • The Keynote Addresses included discussion of global drowning prevention challenges, child drowning prevention interventions in Asia and The International Task Force on Open-Water Recreational Drowning Prevention.  
  • The Vietnam in Focus stream highlighted drowning prevention presentations from the host country.
  • The Drowning in Low and Middle Income Countries stream focused on intervention research, collaborations and perspectives on what needed to impact this significant issue.
  • The Drowning Research stream focused on high quality and innovative drowning focused research from across a range of disciplines and subjects.
  • The Child Drowning stream focused on targeted drowning prevention interventions, advances in child drowing research and the impact of public policy on child drowning. 
  • The Emergency Response and Medical Issues stream highlighted medical research, advances in the medical aspects of rescue, first aid and resuscitation, and emergency response.
  • The Advances in Lifesaving stream focused on lifesavers from across the world promoting their skills, equipment, achievements, as well as seeking ideas for improving standards.
  • The Swimming and Water Safety education stream covered: advances in swimming and water safety research and policy development, specific teaching techniques and program development, and the role of organisations in this important field.
  • The Disasters and Climate Change stream focused on: tsunami, flooding and the role of lifesavers and lifesaving organisations in disaster risk reduction. 
  • The Lifesaving Sport and Development stream focused on the role of lifesaving sport in drowning prevention and organisational development. 
  • The Partnerships and Collaborations stream focused on the growing recognition that drowning reduction requires multi-sector interdisciplinary collaboration. Examples stretch from the community level all the way up to global partnerships.
  • The Activities and Occupations stream focused on research, policy and practice targeting specific activities and occupations that reduce or prevent drowning.
