The Museum of Cham Sculpture is the foremost venue for Cham artifacts and art works in the world. Founded in 1915 during the French colonial era, the Cham Museum’s aim was to preserve the finds of the ancient Champa kingdom, one of the first Vietnamese empires founded more than 1,800 years ago. The museum is the only one in the world dedicated solely to this era and houses the largest collection of Cham sculpture in the world.
The museum is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Danang city. The building itself is one of the most beautiful in Danang city, constructed in the Cham architectural style and located near the Han River.
Inside, the museum houses nearly 300 sculptured artifacts made of sandstone, terracotta and bronze. The museum features information cards in every room that in several different languages, explain the history of the artifacts displayed in each room.
The entrance to the museum is located at number 2, 2 Thang 9 Street (2nd of September Street). The museum is open from 7am to 5:30pm daily and entry is 30,000VND per person, with children under 16 admitted free.
