The Han Market is one of the most interesting sites in Danang city. Here you will get the chance to see traditional Vietnamese shopping and bargaining at its most lively.

The market is located on the corner of two of the busiest streets in Danang and is in the heart of the shopping and business district. There will be plenty of chances to practice your Vietnamese with the locals, as bargaining is practically a sport in Vietnam and everything is negotiable, especially at a market.

Known best for fresh fruit and vegetables, the market is buzzing early in the morning, around 5am, when the produce is freshest and the range is widest. Also on offer are souvenirs, such as Danang tourist t-shirts, which make great gifts, jewellery and electronic goods and traditional food items, such as green bean cakes which are fun to take home and share with friends and family.

The top level of the market is home to a maze of fabric stalls, the perfect place to pick out silks or other beautiful and intricate fabrics at the fraction of the cost in your home country. As this is the market most often frequented by tourists, there is some English spoken. Remember everything is negotiable and buy multiple items from the one vendor for better bargaining power.

Located next to the Han River, the Han market is a hive of activity all day long and is also perfect for an early evening stroll, if you just want to check out the action.

If the Han market is a little too crazy for your liking, you could also take a look at the Con market, located on the corner of Hung Vuong and Ong Ich Kiem streets. Here you will also find an excellent selection of fabrics, whilst the ground floor has an excellent selection of food stalls, serving delicious and cheap meals, albeit served in very basic surroundings. If it all gets to be too much you can escape to the air-conditioned shopping mall directly opposite the Con market.
